We received quite a few inquiries of our Reader's, who want to get married in Thailand,
asking us for the know-how, needed time and the procedure's.

In general we wish to point out here, that we do not wish to and are not allowed to give
legal advice.

But we want to let you know, that it is not as easy as you might think, to get married as a
foreigner in Thailand.
Many legal documents are required.
And it is most frustrating for a person, that comes here for the reason to get married
and then must find out, that it will not be possible, since legal documents are missing
and that the time, to get these documents, also for the Thai partner,
might take as long as +6 weeks!

Therefor, we highly recommand you to proceed as follows:

1. Get from the Thai Embassy in your country a detailed information and instruction list, of what all is required for you and your Thai partner on documents
   and papers. They also inform in a step-by-step way how to proceed.
   
   
2. Contact a lawyer in Thailand for assistance to get the needed documents in Thailand
   done for your Thai partner and for you.
   Some of your documents that you must get from your home country will need to be
   exchanged from your Embassy in Thailand against other needed documents.
   
   
3. Make sure, that your Thai partner is capable, to get his/her locally needed documents. If he/she is not able to do this, you must assist him/her or let a local lawyer do this.
